According to Bloomberg, Apple would have in its boxes new models of iPad Pro as well as a new iPad Mini. The switch to mini-Led technology would be considered for the 12.9 “model while the iPad Mini would get a welcome makeover.
Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman reports that Apple is about to update its iPad Pro as well as its iPad Mini. Helped by the generalization of teleworking, the company should equip its professional tablets with a new chip that would be equivalent to what is offered on the recent MacBook Air and MacBook Pro .
A switch to mini-Led
Among the announcements, the American journalist talks about a change in screen technology. Indeed, he reports that the 12.9 “model could adopt the mini-Led on its panel. The 11” model would continue its journey with LCD technology and unfortunately would not switch to Oled. Internally, both tablets would upgrade to the Apple A14X, an evolution of the Apple A14 featured in the iPhone 12 and iPad Air 4 . According to noise from the halls, this new processor would compete with the M1 chips of recent Apple laptops. Also, Thunderbolt connectivity would be directly integrated into the USB-C port of tablets. Finally, an improvement would be made on the photo part, without further clarification.
But the iPad Pro would not be the only one to invite itself to the party. Gurman adds in his paper that Apple could also take advantage of 2021 to update its iPad Mini. The last model of the miniature tablet dates from 2019 and it is indeed time to bring it up to date. The firm at the apple would plan to enlarge the size of the slab to get something larger than the current 7.9 inches. The design should also change, hopefully to adopt that of the iPad Air of 2020. Apple thus hopes to make students buy this model.
L’Oled in 2022
After Mark Gurman, it is Ming-Chi Kuo who adds his two cents to the rumors . The analyst that we no longer present is planning an iPad Air with an Oled panel in 2022. This could mean that Apple would not plan to renew this tablet model this year, thus leaving the first to the supposed new iPad Mini, or even to a new and improved iPad. Kuo says Apple may bring Oled technology to its entry-level and mid-range machines in the future. The mini-Led would only be present on products dedicated to productivity such as the iPad Pro, but also the MacBook.
