Lenovo Yoga Slim 7: a 14-inch ultraportable powered by the Ryzen 4000

Written by

Announced at CES 2020, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 is now available exclusively on the Fnac website. With a Ryzen 5 4500U processor and an affordable price, this Lenovo model wants to become a mid-range benchmark.

Presented during the AMD keynote at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, co-developed in partnership by Lenovo and AMD, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 offers surprising specifications for an ultraportable weighing 1.4 kg and 15 mm d ‘thickness.

On the menu of the model proposed by Fnac, a Ryzen 5 4500U CPU (6 cores / 6 threads), 8 GB of LPDDR4 clocked at 4 266 MHz, Wi-Fi 6 and 256 GB of storage. Other configurations up to Ryzen 7 4800U (8 cores / 16 threads) and 16 GB of memory should soon be available on the Lenovo site.

Common to the different configurations, the 14 inch Full HD screen with brilliant IPS panel offers a brightness announced at 300 nits and can open up to 180 °. The connection includes 1 HDMI port, 2 USB Type-C (power and video stream) and 2 USB Type-A, but also a headphone / microphone jack and a microSD reader.

Claiming an autonomy of 14 h, it benefits from a fast charge which makes it possible to recover 80% of the battery in just one hour. If a fingerprint sensor is announced as optional by Lenovo, the webcam with infrared mode will be standard for compatibility with Windows Hello.

For the moment offered exclusively by Fnac, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 is displayed at € 799 in public price and € 679 for members, a discount of 15%.

At this price, it is less affordable than a Huawei MateBook D14 or its equivalent at Honor, the MagicBook 14 . However, it hosts a more efficient and energy-efficient processor than the previous generation of “motorizing” AMD chips from Huawei and Honor machines. It should therefore be an attractive economic alternative to higher end ultrabooks, the Apple MacBook Pro 13 for example.
